Robert Niemand worked in Labour Relations and Human Resources for a large national organisation employing 30 000 employees with an annual turnover of R2,5 billion for seven years where he was the Regional Labour Relations Manager and an integral part of the national Labour Relations team. He was Chairperson of the National Negotiating Council of this organisation and served on various national Task Groups, Committees and Sub-Committees. He was instrumental in re-drafting the Labour Relations policies and procedures of the organisation in order to comply with the new Labour Relations Act. 

Robert has obtained the following qualifications:

  • B.A. Hons (Industrial Sociology) (University of Port Elizabeth),

  • Diploma Advanced Labour Law Programme (cum laude)(University of South Africa), 
  • Diploma Senior Management Programme (University of Stellenbosch Business School), 
  • Certificate in Labour Arbitration (University of South Africa), 
  • Certificate in Dispute Resolution (Independent Mediation Services of South Africa) and currently reading for Masters in Conflict and Conflict Resolution (University of Port Elizabeth).
He has been responsible for designing a number of training courses in labour relations, conflict resolution and human resource aspects as well as the development of procedures and practical guides. He has always promoted sound employer-employee relations through understanding the needs of the parties and helping them to reach an agreeable solution in which all accept ownership. He has a sound understanding of the complexities of the workplace and the employment relationship and is well qualified to advise clients on all aspects of labour relations and conflict resolution in a personal, practical and approachable manner. Robert advocates worker participation based on business principles with the accommodation of the needs and goals of all the role players.
